I'm pretty sure I've never made a hysterical post on the biggest scuba diving message board, at the start of dive season...a post which has the potential to have a terrible impact on local families and businesses.
Netdoc made a post saying the media should be sued for what they did...and several people thanked him. Well how is what Speargirl did any different than what the media did? Just because you guys are friends with her doesn't make her actions any less reprehensible. In fact, I believe what she did is worse than the media.
People can look at a media story and say, "oh they always blow things out of proportion" or "oh they are just sensationalizing to try and sell a paper." However people could look at speargirl and say, "wow she's a real person, on the ground and she is seeing this. She works in the Keys dive industry, so if SHE is saying this, things must really be bad. I should cancel my vacation."

She was corrected early in the thread... Let it go
Ya know, Em, you're right. She really screwed up. The whole economy of the Keys is a big vat of empty hotel rooms and empty dive boats because of her raving hysteria here on Scubaboard. I think Pete should sue her ass to obliviation for posting such erronious information and being responsible for the demise of the diving in the Florida Keys.
