There were 2 people with pole spears on the West side on Sat & dead fish with prong holes in them to prove it. There were also people taking cushion sea stars today. The life guard spoke to one, a boater.
Protect our bridge. If you are uncomfortable saying something then get the lifeguard.
There was also a diver trying to get in the water with a speargun recently but was stopped. This is a crowded swim & dive area someone could get hurt.
Wow. Just wow. That totally pisses me off. Don't these people have brains?

Thats like the people fishing within the SPA in the Keys. When you approach them they always say we didn t know. Never mind that the ball they hooked up to says no fishing in English and Spanish

I was at BHB on Saturday with my son. We arrived around 10 AM. I normally walk the site before we go in. There were a lot of divers there. Some divers were at the water edge and standing in the water. There were also some divers already underwater by the bridge. The tide was still coming in very strong. As we walked by there I saw 2 divers hanging onto the pilings asking for help it did not appear to be live threatening. I did not hear them screaming. There were 3 snorkelers there that were holding a fishing pole they found in the water about 7 feet from them standing. I was surprise that no one was going to help them. But if you do not know what to do you could end up a victim yourself. I did not have my fins with me so I went to 2 groups of divers that were set up on the grass and asked if anyone had a rope I could throw them. No one had a rope. I was heading back to the bridge to tell the diver to make sure they dropped their weight belts and send my son to get the life guard. However, there was someone giving assistance when I got back. I figured it was one of their dive buddies helping them. I did not see if the people who helped them had spear guns or poles. I figured they entered the water too soon and got tired swimming against the tide. We went in about 20 minutes later and the tide from the boat mooring to the bridge was still strong. .

I can certainly appreciate their situation.
I too have entered the water a bit too early and got hammered by the current.
Much worse than anything I've experienced from a dive boat out in the ocean.

WOW, 3rd page--Is no one diving the bridge right now?? What has the temperature been--we plan to dive the bridge next Monday and I'm wondering if I need more than my full Aeroskin for the job............My warm water relatives from Key Largo are diving with us and want to know how much stuff to bring. Thanks!!

I haven't dived the bridge in over a week but the water temps have got to be getting close to 80.

I plan on diving here this Saturday. Just bought a Transpac, figure I'll check it out on an easy dive. Will be there about 8:30 Saturday morn, if anyone wants to join.

brucet, living in Pompano, would it be just as easy and definately quicker to dive LBTS?
Not that we locals don't like company.......
The more the merrier..

mmm maybe not...
