I realize everyone can react differently to medication, here is my experience with the scopolamine patch. I had never been seasick before but went on a 3-day deep sea fishing trip a few years ago and brought the patch 'just in case' as I we were planning to be out for the duration. As luck would have it, it was very rough when we went out. I was the last to get sick (and after one of the deckhands, which soothed my battered pride a little bit). I put on a patch and 90 minutes later life was very good. It was amazing how well it worked, even after not using it up front.
My side effects were a little bit of blue color shift in vision (very minor) but no blurriness at all, and increased thirst. Push the water when using the patch, it does dry you out a bit. One patch lasted the duration for me, but it was staying dry. I suspect you might have to replace it after a couple of dives, but that is a guess.
