I sold most my dusty technical rock climbing gear to buy my drysuit & base cold water pre-technical diving gear, but that didn't cover a scooter :depressed:.

Also sold my BC at a 50% loss to pay for the BP/W (which I love) - I second buying the BP/W first :)!

Split fins don't have a high resale value, but neither do Scubapro Jets which can be bought for a steal second hand!

I lurve my splitfins!!!!! I am trying to get into fundamental class this summer maybe if I apply liberal ammounts of black duct tape they will not recognize my splitfins. One day Ill come on the board and be like I do the best helicopter, frog kick, back kick with my duct taped splitfins.

might have to replace with fresh duct tape every day! :D

:rofl3: That would be pretty impressive!!

Good luck with your class :)!!

Anyway I thought it would be interesting to hear if anyone else has sold something to fund scuba and what it was.

Just a watch...

Used the proceeds to buy some gear; drysuit, tropical drysuit, two sets of doubles, some regs, a can light, Vytec DS, and my tec training.

I am thinking of selling the outboard on my jon boat. I did just fine with the trolling motor and frankly it scares the crap out of me how fast it goes/terrible it handles with a 10hp motor. Also thinking about getting a rebreather (eventually please don't flame me:dork2:) and thinking I would sell my project car a 1976 Fairlady Z for money for that. Anyway I thought it would be interesting to hear if anyone else has sold something to fund scuba and what it was.

Nikon D60 DSLR, Xbox 360, PSP, PS2, Bike, Fishing Pole (G-Loomis GL3), Shamino Stella Reel, Shamino Stradic 2500 Reel, Sage Fly Rod, Tibor Reel, Old Laptop, Pocket Bike etc...

I sold my porta ledge, ice axes, ice screws, entire rack of rack gear which included a few sets of cams, a few sets of hexes, a sets of nuts, a few sets of tri-cams, a bunch of RURP and birdbeaks, haul bags, three white water kayaks and a road bike.

Basically I replaced 2.5 sports for one that doesn't hurt.:D

It's not what I have sold, it's what I am still driving. I drive a 1991 suburban with 480,000 miles. Every time I think of buying a new truck, I stop when I think how much new gear I could purchase and additional training I could take. My old truck still gets me where I need to go and will transport all my tanks, dive gear, fishing gear, and 2 labrador retrievers...and maybe even a dive buddy or two.

I sold my first wife and bought a diving wife and happiness. with the extra $ I bought some gear and a few vacations to warm clear water. you would think it would cost more for a diving wife but apparently the finances don't work that way. I have a whole garage full of R/C airplanes that are for sale. would love to buy a dry suit with the $.
