Hello everybody, I need some advice on a couple of things, a few friends and I are planning a trip to Roatan from March 31st to April 4th, this time of the year as you know is Semana Santa in Roatan, and will probably be quite full, if someone's been there for that time of the year please could you share your experience.

We are a group of around 8, only one of us is a AOW and another is interested in getting the OW, the others are mostly interested in partying... so my question is where is the best place to be for both activities? west end or west bay? and if you have suggestions on where to stay, we are looking for something comfortable but not overly expensive.

Thanks a bunch!

West End is the best known place, but understand that the usually sedate and sleepy AI called Fantasy Island just simply goes Bull Goose Looney during that period of time. It is mostly populated by Spaniards, Italians and South Americans.

Can you say, "thong"?

No thank you...I'll be sure to stay away that week :shocked2::shocked2::shocked2:

Was there at the end of it last year...what a freaking NIGHTMARE!! It took us over 45mins to get from Sandy bay to the airport!(normally a 10 min trip at best). For what all the locals say they don't even get out at that time of the year...Id say if you can find a place to stay jump on it...places to stay are hard to find and go up in price that week.

Yikes, we're going to be at CocoView during that time....hope it wasn't a mistake!

No way...you'll be nicely insulated at CoCoView :D

Whew! Thanks, its a relief to know we won't be driven crazy every night of our trip with partying....we need our sleep to be able to dive, dive, dive!!! ;)

thanks for the tips! we are all in our mid 20s and won't mind either the crowd or the parties, is fantasy island resort suited for our age? my fears are that it's located a bit far away from the west end, which I understand is the more lively place, so if the resort is not that fun, we would be stuck in the same place... any suggestions on hotels on the west end? if I book a hotel in the west bay how far away from the west end is it? also considering that I'm staying at the west end, which dive shop do you recommend in that area?

If you have a group together, look into a vacation rental house in West End or West Bay. For the demographics of your group, I think West End would probably be your best bet.
