Great idea CoolTech - I'm going to try to make it. Where did you hear that the construction is going to start next Monday? Is there a website somewhere with more specific info?

I heard it from the big blinking sign on top of the east span that flashed on and off... "Construction Begins 12-14-2009"... Then it was gone... then it was back... then it was gone... then it was back again...

Another fantastic weekend...

I don't know how to put the comments between the pics so...
the first shot is of a bumble bee shrimp. he's in the play ground. there were 2 under the same sea urchin.

the second is a seaweed blenny that I taught to play dead. It took a while but I think he's finally got it. :)

the third - I stole this idea from CoolTech after seeing he wasn't trying to make off with all of my treasures.

the 4th and 5th are of the best ray ever ! Could be the same as CoolTechs from Saturday, not sure but the ramora moved to his belly if it's the same one. He swam directly at me, he didn't turn until he almost hit me. He's a poser for sure - gotta love 'em ! :kiss2:

Very nice shots!

Now, click on the "historic dive" link in my signature and sign up for the picnic and dive! ;)

Reeny, those are great shots and the ray may very well be the best ray ever! It reminds me a bit of a photography show I went to not long ago--the photographer's specialty was sharks (and some dolphins, but all big stuff, obviously.) They were huge (over 16 X 20 for sure);some were cropped in interesting ways, focusing on the eye, the mouth, the belly, etc. and others concentrated on movement, like yours. I'm thinking your ray might be able to stand up to the big, framed treatment? It certainly would be fun to play around with them (the photos, not the rays, although...)

Thank you sorrows ! I wish I could get the color right but I'm extremely happy that it was in focus. The ray kept swimming at me and I kept trying to refocus. I really thought it would be blurry. I'll try blowing it up and see what it looks like.

:( I'm not sure I'm going to be able to make it. the SFUPS dinner is Sunday night. Bad timing, I agree but they didn't know when they'd be closing the bridge when they planned it. What about Saturday night ? Wouldn't that be better ? No work the next day.:eyebrow:

Ahhh, alas it is the final chance on the final day to dive the "old east span". You'll never have a chance to dive it again in its current condition. That, and we already have 10 divers... and, ForceE is giving us the permit for $100 flat rate (plus tax)

Here ya go... I have a copy of the 11meg file I can upload and send you the link should you decide you want to have it printed...

You can get this one printed 16x20" on archival matte paper for about $15 through the printer I use, or you can have it stretched on canvas with a wrap-around 5/8" boxing for about $75 (It's really worth printing!)

If you have the original, I am happy to clean it up for you ;)
