First thing, let me say....... I am a female and a football fanatic. Born in NC, moved to Fla in HS, and I graduated from Univ of Fla. GO GATORS!

I will be rooting for the Gators today, but I am a huge fan of all Football, especially the quality of SEC football. I love all the teams and root for them to win, as long as they aren't playing my Gators of course. (I graduated in 1981, class with Chris Collinsworth and though the team barely won a single game for a few years, I still went to every game and screamed until I couldn't talk!)

I REALLY miss SEC football living out west. They just don't get it out here and only attend games if they have nothing better to do. They don't get dressed up, they don't wear their team jersey to the grocery store, and they don't plan their entire weekend AROUND the games. Very odd for me, having grown up in football heaven. :shocked2:
I keep telling my husband who is NOT from the SEC area, that we really need to get on a plane and fly out one weekend to a game, just so he can understand what I am talking about.

so all of you guys heading to an SEC football game today, I am jealous. But I will be watching on tv. :D

Robin, I was there at the same time and had Chris Collinsworth in two upper division accounting classes. He graduated with an accounting degree. Smart guy! As you probaly know he went back and got a law degree from UF during his playing career. Remember Ricky's Bar on the golf course? Good times! Go Gators! :beerchug:

P.S. I was also there during the 0-10-1 season. The brats today have no appreciation for the point of reference. Lastly, back to Chris, little known fact - He won 100m track championship his senior year at Titusville Astronaut H.S. Not bad for a skinny $#@^& guy. :)

I posted this awhile ago but here goes again. First ever suspenstion of a SEC football crew. Not sure what game there are working today. :homealone:

SEC suspends Florida-Arkansas officiating crew - ESPN
When I heard about the suspension on the radio, I thought that it wouldn't have happened if the the coaches hadn't complained. That was after back to back botches.
I was disappointed in the SEC and how they are handling this...

A coach should be able to say he didn't like how the officials made that call.

Scripting what they are able to say will turn the SEC into "professional wrestling"
I agree 100%. It'll be like Gov't officials calling each other "esteemed & distinguished gentleman/lady". Even Santa Claus gets a kick outta that one! ;)

The coaches can make the complaints directly to league office without making public comments. It all a game. The league tolerates as it all adds up to high theater and interest in what's after all just another entertainment option for folks....

It's definitely all about the entertainment, hype, and $$$$$. My gut tells me that the public complaints by more than one coach is what forced their hand tho'. :coffee:

How 'bout that 3rd quarter between Ole Miss and Auburn, wasn't that a crazy one?

Yeah, met Chris a couple of times, really nice down to Earth guy and very smart. One of my friends was madly in love with him and wanted to date him but no luck, he had a steady girl the whole time. That 0-10-1 season was actually one of my most memorable there at UF, especially going to the Gator Bowl game and almost beating GA with Hershel Walker. I think GA won Nat'l Championship that year. :D Good times!

I don't remember much about the golf course, just that I lived in Murphree area, right next to the stadium. That was before they added onto it now, haven't been back to Gainesville since around '84. I am sure the campus doesn't look the same at all. I do remember that they used to sell beer on campus and we all used to go for Happy Hour right at the Ratskeller. LOL But then, drinking age was 18 then. :drunks:

go Gators!

robin:D

Well, the VOLS continue to improve, or at least they don't self destruct. The future is looking better every weekend.

I just got through watching it. Watching Florida/Georgia now.

yeah I'm late, but it was a hetic day. Thank God for TIVO. (although my TV quit recording before the 4th quarter was over).

Lots of missed calls in the Auburn Game. Most of them were close. I saw where the officials clearly blew three plays under video review. (Luckily 2 of them were in Auburns failure, but it would have sucked for Mississippi fans....)

Still a couple other bad calls. Like penalty against Auburn for hiking the ball before the ready signal was giving. rewinding it and watching it, the official clearly set the ball down and scooted backwards 5-6 steps. There was no reason to wait. :shakehead:

regardless.... Auburn really played better today. Some great defense they were playing (most of the time.)

I think Lane Kiffen is a tool as you well know but I have doubt that he and his all-star coaching will field excellent teams in the future. they have played every game tough with the help of many yougsters and little depth. Just buy a muzzle please. :)
