Dacor went out of business a few years ago and repair parts would be hard to find. I would pass on that deal.

Dacor did not go out of business, it was bought by Mares around 2004. There was no inventory of parts, nor were there tool dyes to make repair kits, so any Dacor product made before 2004 should not be on anyones buying list, since there are no more repair kits available. Anything 'Dacor" manufactured after the buyout uses Mares repair kits, which are still being made.

I am curious... what was wrong with the DUIs and the undergarments that you bought?
Shell suits didn't work for me once I wasn't having to work so much under
water.
I tried every undergarment known to man with the exception of the electrics.
It took 2 300gm polar fleeces to keep me barely warm enough to pull 40 minutes. That meant I had to ware over 30lbs of lead.... No way! It was miserable. Thinsulate didn't work, the Weezles did much better.
I dove a HighTide suit in 36 degree water with a 100gm polor fleece and 16lbs and stayed warm for over 2 hours. Game over for me. No I dive in as cold a water as I want, stay in as long as I want and stay as warm as I want.... Life is good.

Darn you!

Your post confirms that I still should be saving up for a High Tide drysuit. I've been tempted by less expensive ones, but I
ll just have wait and build my scuba budget some more.

FWIW, a CF200 is not a shell suit - it's a crushed neo drysuit. I've dived my CF200 in as low as 44F water (with 35F air temp) and was fairly comfortable. However, I was only diving 300g undergarments and wet gloves....both of which would need to be upgraded if I were diving in the PNW regularly.

A number of people also dive shell suits up there. With proper undergarments and dry gloves, it will be warm enough. If you find a good deal, jump on it....don't wait around and dive wet in the meantime :D

My most useless purchase so far (I am sure I will buy something else that will make the list) was mask defog. Spit works great and it is free.

My computer - Mares Nemo Excel. Non user replaceable battereies, 4 second backlight and most of all, no surface interval time. It also has too conservative of an algorithm (RGBM) which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I was always pushing my ndl's and everyone on the boats would be waiting on my SI before the second dive. Solved by getting my Nitrox cert. However, it does look nice. :D

I bought a neoprene dry suit custom made. Hated it!!!! To tight to restrictive, far to frustrating. I still have it hate to just give it away so I hang on to it. If I lose 25lbs it maybe better.

Dangly retractor for my compass -- the rest of my rig is nice and streamlined; having that thing flapping around got annoying in a hurry. Switched to the wrist mount I should have gotten in the first place.

I don't technically "regret" any of my other purchases, but there are two I'm considering phasing out -- snorkel (for anything but pure snorkeling -- I may opt for a collapsible snorkel in a wetsuit pocket, if that) and split fins. I've been quite happy with my splits, but I have strong legs and suspect I'll enjoy the feel of paddle fins more.

i regret not to buy a flash light 3 days ago!:idhitit:
