Also, if you can afford the domain name now, you can alias it to your present website so that anyone viewing it only sees southfloridaoceanwatch.com (or whatever you buy) in their browser address window. That will give you time to save money for hosting etc.

Dude.. they are totally unrelated to your cause. They have no business being there and actually detract from the site. You are losing credibilty by having those links, even if they are yours.
Pick up this book on web design. It is great for beginners. You can probably pick it up from the library. Even though "anybody" can make a website, doesn't mean they should. You are getting a lot of honest feedback and help here, good luck!
