The water quality tests for these lakes are completed. As expected this is one of the best quality set of connected lakes in central florida. Since this is more technical here are the guidelines used.

Allowable Limits:

For Fecal Coliform (FC):
Membrane Filtration shall not exceed a monthly average of 200 cfu/100ml, or exceed 800 cfu/100 ml on any one day.

For Chlorophyll A (C-A):
guideline is 20 ug/l (amount of algae is correlated to Chlorophyll A, If result is over 20 ug/l then, will be indicative of algae bloom)

For pH in Class III Fresh water (pH) :
6.5 - 8.5 units

For Dissolved Oxygen (DO)
Between 5 - 9.0 DO

We are meeting at Dayo Scuba in Winter Park at 8:00 a.m, we plan to hit the water around 9:00 a.m, BBQ at Dayo afterwards too!

Some more details I just got:

Dayo Scuba will have a few dozen dive flags/floats, but bring your own if you have one.

Dayo Scuba will provide some mesh bags

Winter Park will have the Trash bags.

Winter Park Police (water guys) alerted to what's going on.

Lakes to be cleaned, in priority order: Virginia, Osceola, and Maitland.

We are cleaning up the lakes, NOT around them... but we won't walk over trash on the banks.

Winter Park will supply the drinks

Einsteins will supply a breakfast for us

Dayo Scuba will have hotdogs, hamburgers on the grill that afternoon.

Who is bring a boat or canoe? Dayo has 2 canoes, Jeff Bateman has a motor boat, who else? We need the registration numbers of the boats so they are allowed on the lakes (no charge).

Winter Park has some liability forms for all...

I am still in, and my son, Chris is coming also. He's OW with plenty of experience in his logbook.

I am considering bringing my small bass boat. It would be good surface support (and easy to climb into).

I am trying to get relieved early from work so I can meet you guys before you head to the lakes. If not, I will need someone to call me (407-592-5072) and let me know where you need us. I will know more on friday.
