I'll stop by....I've been meaning to get out to your shop....just haven't made the treck to plainfield this winter yet..

I am very interested in helping prepare this site for diving. It would certainly be a lot closer to me than Haigh Quarry (great place by the way) or Pearl Lake (also good). I would like a little back ground info if possible. Is this quarry owned by the village or other governmental/non profit group or is it privately owned? I am asking as I am involved with a Boy Scout Troop and we are always looking for service projects. We have several members who PADI Open Water certified and would be interested (I think) in helping pull this together. As their dive experience is limited you may not want them doing anything in the water, although they would be thrilled with any job involving a dive or two. My thought was surface improvements such as trash/rubbish/brush removal, land-scaping, picnic table construction, etc. Basically anything requiring able bodies.
I hope this sounds interesting. I am planing on attending OWU so perhaps I will see you there.:D

This sounds great to me, an hour closer. Count me in.

Hey Mike,
Can you post the actual address so I can map it? How cool by the way!!!

Here is a link to the Forest Preserve site.
FPDWC.org - Whalon Lake

If you need an address, use mine and go 1.4 miles south of my house and you are there. The enterance is at the intersection of Lisson Rd and Royce Rd
1431 Canyon Run rd. Naperville, IL 60565

I can't wait,

Last week I was driving by and I couldn`t resist :)
I stopped and I took sneak peak preview of Whalon lake
First impression: great Place I would say that viz maybe something around Haigh Quarry or maybe 3~5 feets less. Very Very close to Chicago
What I didn`t like ---> those outputs or drainage I`m thinking about "smaller" one looks very active!!! from shore You can see kicked up sand almost like fog underwater
I took some photos from the lake side and from the other side where pipe ends I don`t know what to think maybe I`m just exaggerating but diameter of pipe can easily accommodate a diver :)

OK links to photos are beneath:
