I bought both my camera (Sony PC120) and housing (Ocean Images) on ebay. I did by the lights new from Nocturnal and made my own tray. Total spent was around $1200. I am able to tape in high enough resolution that after editing (another cost) on my computer (yet another upgrade) I can produce some pretty good HD movies.

Sure I would like to step up to some new gear but the huge cost difference has not justified itself yet. Maybe someday.

Are you saying that you tape in standard definition miniDV yet somehow up-convert your videos with your editing software to HD? I would like to know how you do that.

I am wrestling with the question of buying a cheaper SD setup or spending the extra $ for an HDV setup.

(sorry if this hijacked the thread)
