If I had a non-stop to Cozumel and it was within $150 of a non-stop to Cancun, I'd fly to Coz. Connecting flights for more money, no thanks.

Tha's exactly the same criteria we have. Since we can't fly direct from LA I use price as the determining factor. The connecting flights time to CZM and the Cancun/Playa/ferry time are usually the same. For our next trip in September it was less than $100 to connect through Houston to CZM

There are very few places that you can get a non-stop into Coz, but a lot more that have non-stops into CUN. If I still had a residence in Houston I'd of course take direct flights into Coz but from most any other place I'd take a non stop into Cancun over a change of plane into Coz. I've done it both ways perhaps hundreds of times since 1988, so I've experienced the good and the bad of both ways. Sure, of course the change of planes can be easy, but the odds for a smoother trip are better with CUN.

Just my continued 2 cents.

Annual storage at Scuba Repair? We've been thinking about that, but we still do at least one trip (sometimes two) to other destinations so we'd still be hauling it back and forth and having it at home a few months in the year.
Yep, and I'd at least want my own mask, snorkel, fins for Holbox. If I spent as much time in Coz as some of y'all, I might carry those piece, my computers, cameras, smaller items home for other uses but leave BC and other bulky items there.

From Orlando, the cost difference can be crazy! For example, the first week of December is approximately $780 to Cozumel and $360 for a direct flight to Cancun on Jet Blue. For two of us the differential pays for a good part of the rest of the trip.

We have done the Cancun to Playa route before using a pre-booked van and it workrd well, but I always worry about it being there for the return trip--so far, so good.

The bus terminal in Plays is quite convenient and the busses look to be quite nice so my question is:

Where is the bus terminal at the Cancun airport and how much of a hassle is it to find and book?

Thanks in advance for information.

My wife and I often have to vacation during the peak periods for Cancun/Cozumel. Immigrations at Cancun during the peak time, in or out, is an exercise in human line dynamics. To their credit, what looks like it is going to take 3 or more hours to complete the Mexican Customs people get done in less than 2. Non-peak time is a piece of cake.

At Cozumel, whether peak or non-peak, there isn't much difference. 20-40 minutes and you're either leaving the airport on arrival or sitting in the gate area for departure.

For me flying into Cancun is just about the same price as flying into Cozumel (from Philadelphia). It would have to be a pretty good cost savings for me to go through the trouble of flying into Cancun.

I've been looking for flights into Cozumel for mid-November/early December and the prices are down about $160 from last week. I don't know whether to book now or wait a bit longer.

Nice to hear of fares going down! Much of that depends on day of week and time you check, but still.

I see some nice fares there....
  • Philadelphia to CZM $566 RT on Cont
  • EWR (Newark? to Cancun $428 on AA
  • ACY (Atlantic city?) to Cancun on Spirit $416 - I think Spirit is one to be careful of?
$566 beats what I can do from Lubbock!

Air miles! Get A CC that rewards air miles and use it for whatever you can to collect the miles. Just pay it off every month and you'll be fine.

Los Angeles to Coz is $120 RT for two. American with a stop in Dallas. No biggie for the price and no bus/ferry rides. Landing in Coz is way better IMO.

:11: Wow, how do you get that fare? Points plus $120?

Don't all the LAX to CZM connections thru DFW require overnight travel, or the long route thru Mexico City?

When we booked our flight a couple of weeks ago for late October, the direct flight to Cancun from NYC was almost half the price than the 1 stop flight to Cozumel. Needless to say, we are flying into Cancun.
