Contrary to what some apparently believe, Mexico is not a lawless nation.

PADI The Way The World Learns To Dive

Eric is still listed (see bottom) as a course director. IMHO the OP could go after Padi for his $900.00 as they are clearly marketing him as course director. I can't believe that they would still have him listed on their website.

If PADI realy wanted to shut down his website, they easily could.
It took all of about 30 seconds to trace it through whois to
bluehost.com
They're located in Utah.
They pobably will, but like any big corporation, take forever to get
anything done. They haven't even removed him from thier own
website yet! Ha!

Corporate wheels are allways moving forward, but they grind awfully slow.

Hey why is the Course Director and his defenders like MERLICERTES and AQUANUTS not here posting and explaining the reasons for the continued misinformation...

The OP spent his money on airfare and hotel. He flew to Mexico and stayed in the hotel. Nobody owes him squat for that, nobody is going to reimburse him for that. If he wanted to do the zero-to-hero IDC there are plenty of other options for that in the Cancun/Coz area. They only thing he *might* have an argument about is if he prepaid for the training, which he says he didn't. Enough of the BS already. This notion that "someone owes me" for every little thing is crap. He still went to Mexico, he's still getting the "zero-to-hero" training he signed up for -- just with a different IDC.

Hey John B,

The OP (that would be me) came to mexico to do the IDC, if I had not been sold on going to mexico I would have spent the money on another location. But if you read the threads you will see I have been positive about this whole matter, except now I think it unfair that others will be mislead with the advertisement this Course Director is still showing, and quite possibly still selling his program which he can NO LONGER DO. I suspect as I have been told he is crossing over to SSI, and will get people down to mexico. and Ooops Sorry can't do PADI but here is an SSI cert.

I do not want my money back, I made the decision to come down, no one forced me to buy my ticket, and I live with my decision...

Let me state this very clearly. I am not defending this man in any way, nor do I condone his alleged actions, but I do recognize the fact that it took some real kahunas to speak up here in an environment that you clearly want to create and use as a whip to beat the crap (and perhaps your $900?) out of him. I almost got snaked by a CD over at my LDS for more than your couple of bucks investment (surprise news flash there are many, many sharks - not the swimming kind - out there) but you know, somehow, after I figured out what was going on, before I actually paid the $$$, I had my lawyer deal with my communications with the CD in question since he was not interested in amicably resolving the issue without making legal threats in an attempt to hold me to a promise to pay him for services we discovered he did not have the infrastructure or staff to provide. After my lawyer sent him a letter explaining the situation and making my case I was left alone. If I had continued to go on a hate campaign against him it just would not have made me feel any better about it, served any real purpose, or created any more value for anyone. I certainly also would not have had the energy or the time to carry on with such nonsense.

Dude, seriously, let it go and carry on with your life. Stop pretending you are now suddenly the world-wide appointed, noble savior of the diving community to prevent people from getting scammed online. Anybody who signs up for a program and does not properly confirm and keep on top of their arrangements and agreement terms before leaving anywhere, especially when they pay fees (besides deposits) in advance should not be surprised that they got scammed.

I just love the way how you want to draw people into your peevish argument to make it look like you have so much more right to your anger. Grow up. :shakehead:

Edit: As for PADI taking the site down - they do not own that server so they have to follow whatever legal course of action is necessary to get it taken down. And if they are not doing anything about it, have you sent PADI a formal letter to request them to take action yet? What was their response? We are all sitting in our armchairs speculating as to why it has not yet been taken down. Someone allegedly sent a request to PADI for more information about this, and even though I doubt we'll see anything much of a reply from PADI, for whatever reason, until we have that official feedback from PADI we will all only continue to speculate about this. We really just do not know what has been said and done behind the scenes and you are therefore arguing your points based on conjecture and speculation. IMHO, this thread has now degraded a political BS mud throwing fest. :shakehead::shakehead:

Edit: Previously posted comments on the link quoted above removed because even though I found no results when clicking on the link at first, when I did a search from scratch I did find his name still listed as a CD.

I did send an email to PADI but I would think it would be in the best interest of all certified PADI Dive Centers to have discredited CDs or instructors removed from the internet, certainly from PADIs own site at the very least.
