The gas mix shifting to 50% is a safety thing. IF you dive a mix other than 21% the computer requires you reset the mix on each repeative dive. Basically it's a way to penalize you significantly (and keep you safer) if you don't tell the computer exactly what you are diving.

That said, I get dinged on this exact thing all the time.

Yep, that's what I've heard. However, I don't dive anything other than the gas mix the Creator gave us. Have never dived Nitrox, but somehow I must have reset the mix thanks to heavy fingers on the buttons!

I have a new one with around 6 dives on it. So far so good. I like the fact that I can get so much information off of the computer itself in log mode. Avg depth, start time, end time. I couldn't get any of that off of my Aeris Atmos 2 without downloading the dives to my PC. I also love the fact that DSS makes a bungee mount for it. I HATE straps!

I have the Cressi version, and at $279 from Leisure Pro it is a bargain. It has held up well for 2+ years. It is more conservative than the Oceanic, Sherwood and Aeris group. Less conservative than Suunto. My first one was recalled for the logbook function. The bottom times did not sum correctly. It did not affect dive safety.

Only one minus to that unit, a weak beeper. Others have a louder audio alarm.

Great simple two gas computer. I have been using mine as a bottom timer lately and it is nice. I also like the DSS bungee mount.

Thanks for the replies. I never thought to check into other scuba companies selling the Duo under a different name. I'm not locked into Dive Rite (or Dive Rite Express) and it does look like the Zeagle version from Scuba Toys seem to be the best "bang for the buck" when you factor in the SB discount. It looks like I'll be giving them a call as soon as my tax rebate check posts in my bank account. After all it is my patriotic duty to stimulate the economy! Thanks again to all.

I dive dual Nitek Duos. One is a backup. I got a great deal from Cathy at Dive Outpost on 2 Duos and the docking station. PM me if you want the price.

Edd at Cave Adventurers will also make you a great deal on it.

I had 2 of the IQ-700s Long story but, they where basically malfunctioning out of the box. Did about 10 dives trying to work it out. Exchanged for Aeris XR-2s.

Almost all companies that manufacture have problems how they deal with the problems is important. Scubatoys did an excellent job getting them exchanged for the XR-2s.

The manual says the F02 default simply does not monitor O2 at all when in default mode. It defaults every day at midnight if you use a mix other than air and if you are not in the water. I have dived my computer in this mode and everything works but it profiles as if you are on 100% oxygen and all the values are flashing throughout the dive.

Says I am dying but I ignore it if I am using air.

I have the Apeks Quantum for the last year and I just love it, the O2 and N2 bars are a little hard to see at first but you get used to that. Goob value at its current price IMO.
