hehe.. i tend to chew as well.. :)

those little tabs inside the regular mouth pieces have usually disappeared in a month when i used those.. haha then you have to bite down on one side of the mouthpiece to keep it in the mouth. gets old after a while :D

Hey everyone... I bought a custom mouth piece and will never dive without one again! I feel much more comfortable and in control. That being said make sure your buddy knows your equipment!!! This is because custom mouthpieces may prevent your buddy from breathing off your primary (which regardless as to what you think of as an octo, they might go for when they are in need of air). Especially if your buddy is significantly smaller, and the mouthpiece will not fit them, it could become dangerous if they are not familiar with your equipment. Hope that makes sense and sorry it is poorly written...

In conclusion, get a custom mouthpiece, you won't regret it, just make sure you have a reliable octo and your buddy knows where it is!

That's one of the reasons PADI teaches a diver to "sip" from a free flowing regualtor.

The same process can be used if a diver is trying to breathe from your primary.

Now certain things MUST be considered here.

IF the person OOA is breathing from YOUR primary, that would indicate that you are using a HOG or DIR rig and donating the primary to an OOA diver.

It is a given that none of us are built the same way, therfore, there is no one mouthpiece that will "fit" all people. Yes, the smallest mouthpiece will "fit" all people, meaning, one can get it in the mouth, but can one retain it.

This is one of those scenarios where the possibilities and probabilities don't intersect.

Just a thought.

I personally use a Seacure and the benefit for the money is fantastic. Having TMJ it has made all the difference in the world with jaw fatigue and headaches after diving. I see OP has actually invented a custom mouth piece also, so I would be interested in getting their perspective on the subject. I'm sure that there was a lot of research that had to go into the design that could benefit all of us.

I've had the same one for 8 years. I've remolded it twice. Last year I thought it would be a good idea to get a new one. So I did and molded it then left it for about 30 seconds on the counter to get something in the other room. I came back to find my dog with the mouthpiece in her mouth. And of course with a huge bite mark. So I put the old one back on and continue to use it. By the way. We did a share air skill and my buddy said he didn't even notice it.

....but now your dog can dive with you !! COOL! :D

I have not used any custom mouthpieces but the Aqua Lung Comfo-bite mouthpiece is very comfortable and has not caused any discomfort for me.

Where do I post stuff for a Dive Business in Hawaii partnership??

My Seacure ROCKS.

I forget I have a reg in my mouth.

The best $ spent to date.
