Seadreamer:
Thanks Don, I'll definitely join DAN if it works out for me to keep diving. :sadangel:

I do have a question that perhaps someone can answer for me. After I finished in the chamber, the doctor told me I needed time to heal and that I should do anything that causes physical exertion for at least two weeks.

I had always thought that the sooner one gets active, the better. Is he just being cautious, or should I really be this careful because of any residual bubbles, or whatever? I do get short of breath really quickly, but I feel so sluggish without at least some exercise.
It's usually best to follow doctor's orders. The reasons for his orders probly are to allow your body to heal from the actual damage done to it, including inflamation of joints, etc

Thanks for sharing your story.
I can't offer any advice to help, but I wish you well.

Take care!

I am resurrecting this thread which I started over a year ago. Since the incident I described at the beginning of the thread, I haven't been diving. I was in the Philippines and was planning to dive, but I couldn't seem to get hydrated, so I didn't go.

Anyway, since the episodes of DCS I haven't had any sequelae except for one possibility that sounds really weird, I'll admit it myself: But my legs constantly feel cold, even when it's hot. They actually ache, and keep me awake at night. I can sit in a hot tub, and they feel cold. Does anyone know if this could be a complication of DCS? I had a doctor tell me it was "Filipino Voodoo." I do have a fairly good sense of humor, but I didn't find his comment terribly amusing.

I'm leaving in a couple days for Mexico (Costa Maya), and I'd really like to do some diving. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?

No, I didn't test for PFO. I'm not independently wealthy.

I think i'd start a new thread on Dr.Deco with your history and question, but without the PFO test, I think I'd stop diving with your history...

This is probably an indication that I watch too much TV...but I have seen a commercial for "restless leg syndrome" about 100 times. Your comment of "keep me awake at night" is almost an exactly line from the commercial. Are your legs ever tingly? I would google restless leg syndrome...it probably isn't the case but you never know.

Once an ER doc diagnosed me acid reflux...and after researching it online I only matched one of several symptoms, but then I saw a commercial for a medication for a different disorder...after researching I matched every symptom. I visited a specialist and after a test he said I did in fact have the self-diagnosed via commercial disorder. So sometimes the TV is right...

I have RLS (and have had it since LONG before the commercials made it the butt of jokes by folks who have obviously never experienced it). Even though the symptoms described are nothing like mine, the thought immediately crossed my mind, as well.

Tingly is such a tame word for something which wakes me out of a sound sleep (usually when I am already exhausted). Sort of like someone tickling my ankle joint with a feather (inside where I can't reach it to brush the feather away, or rub it to alleviate the feeling). It can wake me up several times during a single night, and each bout can keep me awake anywhere from a few minutes to hours. The manifestations vay considerably.

I kind of like the "voodoo" tag.
