I just got home and I took 1lb of Peets french roast. My beans are important to me. I had no trouble getting it in, the woman searching my stuff even commented on how good it smelt. Good chocolate is SOMETIMES available no always. Chedraui has a lot of things.

You owe it to yourself to explore the Chedruai store. They have virtually anything you could need or want. Also be sure to check out the little indoor mall with additional shops and a food plaza and indoor movie theatre...

We have vistited and will visit Chedruai and San Fran. Just a few items we like they do not have. Thanks for the help.

Take your brand of Coffee and any spice or sauce you can only get locally. I don't travel anywhere without the following Louisiana local fare: 1Lb of Community Coffee, 1 bottle of Tobasco sauce (original), and one small box of Tony Chacere's seasoning. Ggunn in Texas can tell you about all three of these Cajun necessities when traveling.

You wouldn't dream of saying that if you had to shop there every week for your groceries. It's probably the furthest thing from the truth. While it has definitely gotten better over the last 7 years, there are still a BUNCH of basic things you cannot get there, so don't count on specialty items. When they do have something "special" it lasts for about an hour because those of us who live here have become accustomed to buying up all that we can when it's there. We even call each other to let our friends know that Chedraui has this or that today.

Produce is inconsistent at best as well. For example, don't put romaine lettuce, strawberries, raspberries, and several other things on your list...because it's like the lottery to find those things in stock and in good condition!

Wayne, Chedraui DOES carry Original Tobasco sauce...that's something they always have.

Did you know that Chedaui has bags of Willy Wonka Runts with JUST the banana runts?????
(Like big 1 lb. bags) For those of us who eat Runts, this is a big score since you only get like four bananas in a package and everyone fights for them because they don't want to get stuck with the disgusting Lime Runts.
Sorry, off topic I know, but some other "Runt-Lover" will someday thank me for this pearl of wisdom...................don't flame me over the runt post, please......

A Cajun buddy of mine does the same thing - Community Coffee (N.O. blend w/ chicory) and Tony Chacere's goes everywhere. Got me hooked on both. I'm headed to Cozumel the 29th and will have that coffee with me.

That may be a useful bit of information. Perhaps I need to add a signature to my posts;

"Will trade food for dives"

Of course, if I got arrested smuggling raspberries or lettuce into Cozumel it would kind of ruin a trip. I wonder how much time you do for smuggling produce?

Haha! They would just take it away from you :)

I actually just returned from Chedraui and another case in point. The last three times I've been (in two weeks time), I could not find:
Fat free and/or sugar free yogurt
Zuchini
whole wheat tortillas
GARBAGE BAGS large regular kitchen size - how does a store run out of garbage bags for two weeks???? Well, Chedraui does ALL the time

Haha!

OH the prices one must pay to live on Cozumel.;)

Bananas seem to be hit and miss as well. Plaintains but no bananas on one of our visits.
