the Placebo Effect is a real thing and can result in significantly different perceptions of pain, fatigue, taste, etc.

I felt better at the end of the day on the Nitrox days.

You started out just fine, with an understanding and valid explanation of the Placebo effect, and then, as if you were a totally different person you completely contradict yourself.

around 100ft at which point trimix should be utilized.

You're suggesting that millions of recreational divers are doing themselves some sort of grave disservice because they don't use trimix when diving within recreational limits?

It's interesting how different people believe things that have no merit or basis in fact.

My belief about how nitrox vs air impacts me, comes from my experience diving air vs nitrox. Studies are interesting, but I think we have a lot still to learn about biology, and my decisions regarding what gas I use, are going to be based on my experience, not a study.

I suppose it could be placebo, but placebo or not, if I feel better diving Nitrox, I will dive Nitrox.

I routinely dived air before I got my CCR - but there were still never a doubt in my mind that the risk of DCS would be smaller if those dives were done on Nitrox instead- like with all other dives. So yes, a disservice, but a very small one. At scale it would however reduce the amount of incidents.

The post you are replying to wasn't about diving nitrox vs air.

I know a lady who will not dive on Nitrox because she swears it makes her feel ill, which I thought odd as I too feel much better and less fatigued using it, but I guess everyone is a little different....

I know a lady diver who can no longer use nitrox.
Yet her physical condition and age, 68, mean that she should be using nitrox.
nitrox irritates her lungs; she coughs when she gets out of the water and feels a burning sensation for hours.
when she uses air, she doesn't cough and her lungs aren't irritated.

Now that's interesting. Any idea why this happens?
