I recently purchased the Garmin X50i (March 11) and encountered a serious issue. Initially, it powered on fine, but afterward, it became inconsistent—sometimes it turned on, sometimes it didn’t, even with an 80%+ battery.

This is a major concern for a high-end technical dive computer. If it fails during diving, it could be dangerous. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

[EDIT]
I already followed the manual, which holds the PWR button for more than 2 seconds, but as you see in the video, it still cannot be turned on.

Follow-up: I've submitted a request to get it repaired, and will update it here for those who still consider buying this model.

Garmin customer service is excellent, just call them and they'll have a new replacement to you in a couple days.

Yes, I did receive their prompt response. However, I still believe this should not occur in a high-end product line.

[UPDATE]

Today, Garmin Thailand decided to replace my Descent X50i with a new unit. I’m pleased with their quick response, but I still advise fellow divers to think carefully before purchasing the X50i.

Any computer can break. Even Shearwater.

I don't really see the issue here. All computers can break. That's why you use a backup/bottomtimer

Indeed, any computer can fail, but I’ve never heard of Shearwater or other reputable brands malfunctioning right out of the box.

It can and I'm sure has happened. They are electronics after all. That is coming from a Shearwater fanboy who has owned 6 over the years, 3 of which I still own.

I agree. This is why I have dived with 2 computers for years. I would only be concerned about this failure if it becomes a widespread occurrence. Time will tell but so far, we have a data set of 1 report so far here on SB.
