It seems that Norwegian divers don't really like having links advertising their services. Cruises to the Norwegian fjords have stops in Alesund, Hellesyte, Geiranger, Stavanger and Bergen. You would like to dive there. However, I can't seem to find any local operators who can organize diving sessions during the stops. Maybe you could share your experience of where and who to contact when planning a trip.

Hi, I am based in Oslo. Normally Dive operators in Norway do not work like in the Caribbean... You have to take contact with them directly and see if they can organize a dive during the time window you are in port. Usually they have some fixed days where one can drop-in and see if there are others diving that day otherwise you have to be part of a local div club where they organize dives during the week. But we do dive all year round even in minus temperatures outside...

The problem here is that it is very difficult to find those with whom to negotiate.

There is some information in this link:

It took a lot of patience but I was able to book some dives at two different ports of call while on a Royal Caribbean cruise. It is definitely worth it. One of the issues I'm told is that many divers make arrangements and then back out. One of the places I dove was One Ocean Dive Resort in Kristiansand, Norway. They were surprised to see me as most cruise passengers and Americans usually cancel or no show. That being said they were very hospitable and fun to dive with.

Thanks @mortenscuba for posting my inquiry I was finally able to get some dives in after being persistent.

Here is a link to my trip report for the cruise I went on, I tried to include as much information as possible to help others:

As mentioned above; diving is not a large industry here in Norway.

One can divide the industry into three groups, and as anything else in the world there are versions and deviations from the groups with some places having a little mix of all of them but I try to generalize somewhat here.

1) Dive shops
Their main business is selling gear and courses and the majority of these also have rental gear for rent. Some of these have fixed dive days for non-course participants; often from the docks but some have boats.

2) Dive clubs
Are mostly solely run by volunteers and are basically non-profit. This means that the volunteers organizing the clubs in general don’t get any pay for the job. The cost for membership and trips are to cover cost and to invest into compressors and boats etc. These clubs often have frequent trips and activities but one need to remember that it’s not a business model so they don’t have anything for rent. Also, as mentioned, the people (in general) don’t get any pay, this is not their line of work, so they are not there to serve and arrange things for you - they are dedicated local divers how give of their own private time to facilitate so that others can enjoy diving. Some clubs have boats, some don’t, some have compressors, Nitrox, and even Trimix and CCR support facilities, while some clubs might just have a small shed to keep them dry. Here you will find the largest spread and variations.

3) paid tour operators. There some very few tour operators whose business is to take out divers on tours. One Ocean Dive mentioned above is one of them. The number of these in Norway is not large; some boat operators are normally doing other stuff like tourism boat trips but can if reach out be booked as a diving boat for specific trips but this normally requires own gear and more then one person. Me personally do not have a lot of experience with these few tour operators so I will leave any details to those how have 😊
