Isn't this exactly what Kickstarter is for?

Yeah scuba guy get a provisional patent and go to Kickstarter and that is crowd funding if you have a prototype make demo of it, and good video and some content about the specs and benefits. Figure a price of what you think you can deliver on and make some money pre sell the hearing system on the platform and it will give you the capital to get the project off the ground. You deliver on a date you promise.

If he can still get a patent at all. Depends upon how much he's talked without NDA's and how long ago.

I doubt the market is large enough that patent protection matters. If he believes in it, he should do Kickstarter and make it happen.

I have already developed EXACTLY what your asking for, over 5 years ago. A wetsuit heater with massive power, enough to handle ANY water temp even ice water. I spent over $50,000 dollars to develop it from scratch. Now I am looking for investors to partner with to have it built in a factory and sell them worldwide. I have been procrastinating doing this because I'm busy doing other things like scuba diving a lot. I won't teach anyone how to make it until I find a serious investor to help produce them. If I don't find anyone then I will just use it myself and take the technology with me to my grave. Making something like this wasn't easy and also took 5 years. My incentive to make it was because of health reasons, my ear kept locking up causing me extreme pain, and I didn't want to give up scuba diving. Now my body stays warm, and my ear doesn't lock just like in a hot shower. I don't know how to find trustworthy investors, but maybe one day I will figure it out, until that day comes, I seriously doubt, that anyone else will figure out how to build an effective wetsuit heater, many have tried, and all have failed and I'm 100 percent sure that it will stay that way for years to come, if not forever.

You might consider hiring someone to write your application for patent.

I second Venture Heated vest. I have one.

The allure of being warm caused me to pick up a Venture Heat V3 inspite of bad experience with the previous version (no need to rehash that here). Hope I don't regret the decision ....

I have to say the V3 appears to be a totally different build spec to the last one. Proper E/O connectors etc. Having said that, I am going to be much more careful with this vest. I am storing it in a dedicated hard box instead of throwing in my dive bag, rinsing it and hanging more carefully etc.

Assuming it holds up well, it's a great asset for 50-65 degree diving.

With modern batteries and carbon heating technology why isn’t there a badass heated wetsuit?? I would feel like it would be super nice to have like a 5 mm with a heater that would smoke you out and keep you super warm down to like 50. You know around thighs and back chest and pits. Minimum weight to sink a 5mm. Not much buoyancy swing. And if you lost the heat still be fairly warm and no need for a pee valve. Yes I have a drysuit and enjoy it but I am rough and tumble and would prefer a suit I didn’t need to worry about damaging or jaming into urchin and ruining it. Anyone could point me in the direction to build my own? I have looked up some build your own and some threads in the past about them but not much lately with the newer tec?? Any thoughts??

There is a time-tested method to heat the wetsuit that works since the days of the very Cousteau. Why take risks with electricity and water???

In fact, peeing in the wetsuit works so good that I, being the good buddy that I am, preheat my buddy's wetsuit before the dive to keep him warm and comfy

Good idea. I am very careful with storage too. There are small wires that can break if the thing is not stowed properly/gently.

You are right about a patent being a waste of time, right now I'm scuba diving a lot so I've been busy. If I can get 200 customers that are willing to buy it, I will start making them. The price is about $5000 - $6000 for one system. Its a high price but BAD ASS power is never cheap. Remember this can be used in the Arctic and Antarctic the coldest waters on earth. In such places, 7mm wetsuit is still required to be used with the heat system.

That money could buy you 2 or 3 drysuit, or one drysuit with a heated undergarment...
And if the heating fails in your wetsuit, you freeze to death. Nice.
