Hi all,

I'm a newbie slowly building up my gear and have the opportunity to pick up a Zeagle Tech (used but in exc condition) for about US$270.
Is this overkill for a newbie? I believe the bladder can be changed so maybe buy for now and purchase a smaller bladder later for warm water / travel?
Any thoughts from ppl who use / have used this product?
Warrantys etc not an issue as I wouldn't buy this new here anyway (US$1000+)
Any help much appreciated.

If you're only ever going to be in warm water, it might be overkill. I started out diving on a zeagle tech though and didn't have any problems with it. Some say it's a little too bulky, but I like that solidly built feel it has. Others have also said that the bladder is too big for singles, but since it's what I learned on anyway I never really considered that a problem. I think it's a great BC.

Great BC and incredible price. Go for it!

I recently read in a magazine (Dive Training it think) about buying gear. Do you NEED a BC this serious, probably not. But, are you confortable and does this piece of gear have the things that you currently NEED and also offer you more for future possibillities. I myself picked up a Zeagle Brigade on the pretence that I may use more of it than I CURRENTLY need. Just because its expensive doesnt mean its the right piece of gear for you. Just because its inexpensive doesnt mean its cheap. Do your homework and research your purchases. Think if what you need now and in the future. IF USED REALLY GO OVER IT, EVEN IF ITS FROM A GOOD FRIEND OR A REPUTABLE SO CALLED DIVE INSTRUCTOR. Remember used gear is used, this is a device used to save your life the same as a parachute. I am sure you would check that out wouldnt you.? Do not take diving lightly, it is a dangerous sport! Just be smart.

If all is good with the BC I would say its a good deal and not too much for a newb-ever.

Who cares if its overkill or not? (It is) But if you try it and are comfortable in it then go for it. If nobody used overkill BCDs, all warm water divers would be using entry level rental BCDs

For just $100 more you can get a single tank but brand new Zeagle escape/scout/stiletto (im not kidding bout the Stiletto!) awesome for travel and warm water.

Totally depends on doing your research homework/price shopping and intent of diving. I dont do technical, so i get the single tank for example.

Buy it.

BC sold, I procrastinated too long.
As far as checking used gear, I think that goes without saying!
New gear is second hand the minute it hits the water!
uglyredshoes - where do I get a Stilleto for only $370 bucks?
cheers
