I dive a Flathead 6. I very rarely switch out my gear, so it is the same one I have dove since we first started making them. I dove a Scout BC for the last 5 years, and only switched over when we made the Stiletto.

The Flathead 6 and the Stiletto BC work great for me and my style of diving.

I am fairly new at this diving stuff but after my certification my LDS had a special on a Zeagle Ranger with a Flathead V1. I had read about them and liked the idea that most of the heavy users i.e. rescue, military used Zeagle and the fact that I could "grow" into different styles of diving with them. I am extremely happy with all of my equipment. Basically I will buy nothing but Zeagle from now on. I also like looking down and see the American Flag too.

In regards to the Zeagle comparison chart, the DS-V is only different by having one more low pressure port than the Flathead Vl ? Why would a diver spend the extra money for the Flathead ?
Thanks
Rex

Easier breathing with the FH.

The ZX/ Flathead-VI

The ZX- Flathead VI is the Flagship of Zeagle's regulator line:

* The ZX-Flathead-VI's wide-open internal structure allows for direct and unrestricted airflow through the 1st stage, giving very low breathing resistance, even at great depths and high demands.
* It is very low in profile, barely extending above the tank valve, and places the low pressure hoses directly out to the sides, in a pattern preferred by many divers.
* Zeagle’s conical precision high-pressure valve provides much greater reliability and service life compared to conventional designs, while improving responsiveness and performance at all breathing rates.

Work of breathing at heavy* demand:
0.91 Joule/Liter
*198' (60M) depth, 750 psi inlet, 62.5 RMV (liters per minute respiratory volume)

The ZX/ DS-V

The ZX/ DS-V regulator outperforms many regulators with outstanding reputations- why? Among many reasons, two stand out:

* It has an internal structure that allows direct airflow through the 1st stage, providing outstanding performance.
* Zeagle’s conical precision high-pressure valve provides much greater reliability and service life compared to conventional designs, while improving responsiveness and performance at all breathing rates.

Work of breathing at heavy* demand:
1.29 Joule/Liter
*198' (60M) depth, 750 psi inlet, 62.5 RMV (liters per minute respiratory volume)

I just ordered a ZX/Flathead VI and will post after trying it out.

doos, which way did you go? (this was your thread after all!)

Sorry everyone, I was out of town for 5 days.

I have made my mind up to go with the ZX / 50D regulators, either by convincing the LDS to order them or going on-line. Hopefully I can get to work on that this week.

Did my first dives with my new Zeagle Ranger LTD this weekend and am absolutly impressed with its preformance. It preformed flawlessly.

On a more serious note, SA is looking pretty good! Up 2-0 heading home. Gotta love it.

The Flathead XP is my favorite and our new star performer!
(As long as you're not into cold water diving.)

Work of breathing at heavy* demand:
0.72 Joule/Liter
*198' (60M) depth, 750 psi inlet, 62.5 RMV (liters per minute respiratory volume)

Half the US Navy work of breathing limit, at half the supply pressure used in their tests!
