I saw a preview of the movie a few days before it came out. I agree you should see it, but you should leave the small kids at home. The movie shows illegal fisherman doing some very cruel things to sea life. Like one guy trying to beat a hook out of a sea turtles mouth with what looks like a small bat, gets frustrated and sticks his finger in the poor things eye, you almost hear the thing cry as it opens it's mouth wide. I think just about every woman in the audience, and some guys too, were brought to tears on that one. And thats just one of many scenes depicting violent acts against sea creatures by illegal fishermen. If your prone to violence, you'll want to stay away from your buddies who spearfish, or commercial fish for a few days after seeing this movie. You'll also get a nagging urge to join PETA, but that'll pass too.

Michael, I agree, totally awesome movie. Narcosis, I agree, totally violent movie. Heartbreaking. Unbelievably good photography and editing (and that's a topic I know something about!) Everyone: go see it, you must know the truth.

Just reading you explaination gets me POed, some people in this world suck.

Thanks for the heads up on that part though as I will see it just as soon as they release it out here, NOV 2ND that is to far away!

I, too, thought the movie was very well done. Unfortunately, when I saw it last weekend there were not that many people in the theater and the ones there were divers who probably already knew about the plight of sharks. I would make a plea to get your non-diving family and friends to see the movie. Maybe that way there can be a groundswell of support to stop shark finning. It's going to take a lot to change the non-diving public's opinions about sharks. The "Jaws" mentality is truly alive and well.

I doubt it will come to the Casino's Avalon Theatre here on Catalina, so I'll have to wait for the DVD... but definitely will watch it.

I agree, excellent film. I saw it last Friday in Coral Springs with my girlfriend. Some of it is very upsetting, but it certainly gets the message out there.

My girlfriend and I were the only two people in the theater when we saw it last Friday in Coral Springs. That was disappointing, but not too surprising. For the most part people just don't care.

Anyway, great movie.

I saw it this weekend in Orlando and there were very few people in attendance. I am hoping for some sort of Oscar buzz for documentary that will get people interested. To me there were several really sad scenes - the turtle was terrible, the seals, and seeing all of those shark fins drying on the rooftop. It was very good and I hope when it is released on 2 Nov it will get more publicity.
