I use the one LP sells.... what is the DGX one?
What did you use to attach it to the plate?Yep, same one LP sells. I might have gotten them from Randy... probably did.
I put together my harness from custom Piranha parts as well. I used the black hardware too for the D-rings and triglides.
I opted to go without any teeth on them.
One thing I will say is that it was VERY hard to double back the triglides. Like WWAAAYYY harder than I would have ever expected. Based on videos I saw of people putting their crotch strap together, it should not have been that hard. So I don't know if the black triglides are smaller than the regular silver ones, or whether the webbing is thicker than normal, but that was my experience. I actually had to cut the webbing at an angle so I could at least get a tip through on the double back and then figure out how to finish pulling the whole thing through.
For my harness I ordered the 'medium' stiffness. For the crotch strap I ordered the 'soft' stiffness. It is the only harness I have ever had so I am not sure if the stiffness is normal for the harness or not, but to me it was stiffer than I expected. It is fine though, just stiffer than I would have guessed. I've used it a few times thus far and it has worked out perfectly. It was also somewhat difficult to double back the waist buckle now that I think about it too. So maybe the thickness on their webbing is a little thicker than "normal" since that was also difficult?
But damn, putting the crotch strap together was a headache. I opted to make my own crotch strap from a piece of webbing, so I had to do the loop on there too, so I had to double back 2 parts of the crotch strap.
EDIT:
Just read the rest of the thread and see you are asking about the crotch strap in red.
The reason I "made" my own crotch strap from a piece of webbing was for color purposes. I wanted to possibly match my blue webbing with a blue crotch strap. As mentioned above, I ordered the "medium" stiffness for harness and "soft" for the crotch strap. Well the "soft" blue webbing was a slightly different shade of blue. I had also ordered a piece of black webbing to possibly use for the crotch strap.
I opted to just go with the black for my crotch strap for 2 reasons.
1. The shade of blue was a bit off of the harness as mentioned, and I'm petty like that, so I didn't like how it didn't quite match.
2. I figured the color being blue could stand out going under my junk up my back, so I figured just having it blend in with my wetsuit would make it not standout.
So I ended up going with the black one just to blend in with my wetsuit.
Another option is that Randy will make a custom crotch strap in the webbing you want. I was going to do this, however it would have taken like 2 weeks and I was antsy to just get all my stuff put together and try it in the pool. I believe the price was also like $30 versus the $15 or so, and I wasn't sure if I really wanted black or blue for it, so I just opted to make my own from webbing.
I see you already ordered, but I don't know if it's too late or not, but I was going to say to order some black bolt snaps as well. I didn't do it on my first order then placed an order later on for some, but for a $5 bolt snap the shipping was like $8 or so. I ended up getting like 4 bolt snaps (only using 2 but have some backups now) but I could have saved on shipping had I ordered them right away.
