Also a long one with pic's. Too long to waste board bandwidth on. See it here:

Can't wait to see Ed's pic's from the 'board meet at La Choza on the 15th.

Rondo--thanks again for all the great tips and the nickel tour of downtown, not to mention the SafeSea!

Gordon--all your advice was invaluable. The Scubaboard "hive-mind" is a wonderful thing!

Funny, I've read 2 other May reports that also spoke about a lack of fish. Mine makes 3. Is there a better time of year to visit in terms of fish population?

Nice Job! The one good thing about going in June is that we get to read all these excellent trip reports to whet our appetites!

Sorry to hear about the lack of fish life, I hope they make an appearance next month.

FYI to those headed to Caribe Blu, If your taxi driver doesn't know it, tell him to take you to The Hotel Lorena. That's what it was called before. In fact, we gave up on calling it Caribe Blu after about a day!

Thanks, Jeff!

We also liked the Cafe Blu food, it was definitely convenient. As far as the beds go... they just got a few new (a little over a year old at this point) King-Size beds which is what we got last time there. You have to request them I believe - it seemed pretty comfortable to me. We had the farthest room on the 2nd floor. Just one flight of stairs. I can't even imagine lugging all our gear up to the 4th. No Thanks!

Every room has new beds with pillow top mattresses.

Scott...the other family only had the private divemaster the first day...I sent Javier along the next two days to help Pam out :)

This was an excellent trip report. Thanks for sharing the times that some of the restaurants open. This may prevent others from missing out by getting there too early in the case of "dinner only restaurants". I never thought there was a lack of fish in Cozumel and was there last May and last August. It might just have been that there are always fewer fish at the Palancar and deeper sites. I must admit that flying into Cozumel direct is the only way I'd consider getting there. The cost savings just doesn't make up for the lost time and headaches. We'll be leaving at 9:30 am, landing at 11:32 am, and shore diving about an hour or so later. I'd hate to lose any more time in the shuttle back and forth. Thanks for your work in putting your experience in print for us all to see. I'm glad that you had a great time.

Great report!!! Looks like we just missed each other. I think Gordon should live at the Caribe Blu permanently. He's kind on an icon there. ;)

And yeah, that 4th floor.....

aa, Great report!
It was fun meeting you and Pam, ggunn, Rondo, Swarth and Dianne, at La Choza!
I will post a report, soon.

We had a great time meeting you all! Scott and Pam, Ron, Gordon(whom we saw again inside the Navigator whilst we we're scoping it out), Kent and Jess. It really was one of the highlights of our trip (that was full of a lot of highlights). It all seems a blur now and I'll be digesting and processing my photos. when my mind finishes sorting everything out I'll post a report and get a few of those pictures up ASAP. As for the fish, I will say that Cedral Pass had quite a few more fish than any other sight. I can't say whether they were low as it was our first time there.
