I just don't log dives
I'm going to be in Key Largo for a few days (Monday 3/14 - Thursday), and was wondering if anybody had any plans to dive in John Pennekamp?

Also, the last time I went, I used the the dive operator inside the park. They were very good, but I was wondering if there are other dive operators that go there, or does the park operator have some type of exclusive arrangement?

Thanks!

Terry

Any dive boat (including private boats) can go to any dive site in the Park. Other operators also hit sites beyond the borders of the park. If you want to take Lobster or Spearfish, you must go beyond the park.

Give these guys a call, they are great. http://www.bluewaterdiver.net/

You can also PM KeyLargoBrent directly, but he probably won't answer till the next morning. His PC does not work underwater. lol

The only thing special about the dive op that runs out of Pennekamp is that the owners are well connected enough to get the state contract. They're nice folks, have a large and well run operation, drive fancy cars. But any of the dive ops in Key Largo can take you to any of the dive sites.

BTW, I don't think there are any popular reefs within official Pennekamp park boundaries, they're all in National Marine Sanctuary waters.

Cool!

Thanks for the info!
