In light of my disdane for actually using a pen (my handwriting is awful) but a need to log my dives I have decided to write my own dive log software. What are some suggestions that you would have or short comings with other software packages.

Wow, thats spooky! Its like you were reading my mind. I was just now going to get started writing a dive log in PHP! :D Should only take a day or so. If anyone is interested, I'll post a URL here for a demo...

My goal is a cross platform compatible log, you will be able to edit via the web version or via a gui application. I will be releasing a beta version soon.

That would rule! Put me on the Beta list :-)

Sounds like a great project. Would be nice for illegible handwriters like me:) I'd like to be a beta tester too. How long do you guys think will it take for the 0.1 version to come out?

I'd like to see it... and as far as a PHP project goes, I'd be willing to contribute to the coding aspect if the PM's desire assistance.

As for the PC side, in order for a dive log program to be useful to me, it has to do two things for a starting point:
1. import from Suunto Dive Manager v2
2. download from my Suunto Cobra

 In programmer speak "beta" and "soon" in the same sentence means don't hold your breath ;)
You truly are a coder :D I have the UI of the GUI done I am putting all my code snippets together and hope to have an early canidate out within the week. But my actual job keeps getting in the way.

I will add support for computers as time allows. I will be starting with my computer and working my way through my dive buddies. But Suunto should be in the top five. I had to be wierd and buy a TUSA but what the heck I was in Japan and it was cheap.
