Thanks guys. No clear consensus on having a hosed SPG along with a wrist computer.
Some do, some don't. In a way, I'm glad it's not a unanimous decision to ditch the redundancy.
Personally, I'll keep my console computer/SPG as a backup.

Redundancy is good. If your lone computer fails at least you have gas pressure to guide you on your immediate and controlled return to the surface. I carry two computers because most of the time I'm diving far from a place where I can easily fix the problem in time to dive again on that trip. That's an expensive lesson to learn.

I have this console (front and back pictured below) which includes a SPG, back-up computer, and compass.
I’m thinking of getting a wrist mount for the back-up computer, ditching the compass (I have one on my main computer), and going with a naked hosed SPG to streamline and lighten my gear.

Any reason why I wouldn’t want to do this? As far as I can tell, the only expense would be purchasing the wrist strap and boot.

Seems to me if you still have your SPG flopping around on the end of a hose you aren’t accomplishing much. Can your primary computer be AI?

Yes primary DC is AI. I’m still just a rec diver at this point. Hosed SPG is for quickly checking tanks on boat and if I become incapacitated at depth a buddy can easily check my level without having to know how to scroll through my computer.

Hmm. I can sort of see the checking tank quickly, but it's arguably just about as quick with an AI computer only. Same basic steps anyway.

What do you mean scroll through your computer? Isn't the pressure displayed on the main screen? That's one of the pieces of information I want to have available. And if you are incapacitated at depth, then there really is no point to check if your tank still has gas. Your buddy should be bringing you up to the surface as quickly and safely as possible. Checking the gas supply is something that can be done at the surface.

I don’t have redundant AI and figured I could be doing something temporarily like full compass mode or setting a stopwatch on my DC (Teric) or maybe my integration happens to disconnect (dead battery) when I pass out then my buddy could quickly check my SPG to see if it’s an OOA situation if they don’t know how to use my device. Low probability corner case I’m sure.

For quite a while I dived one AI computer/transmitter, a backup non-AI computer, and a SPG on my left chest D-ring. I ended up using the SPG on a few occasions. I let the battery go dead once on my AI computer. I let the battery on my transmitter go dead once. I had one transmitter hardware failure. In 2019, I switched to two AI computers running off a single transmitter. Once, I forgot to install the transmitter on a reg set. Once, I had loaned reg set due to 1st stage dysfunction. I had an over pressure valve failure on my transmitter and lost both AI computers and used my SPG.

I've been diving an AI computer or two since 2010 along with an SPG. I have used the SPG on 17 out of 1994 dives. Overkill, maybe. I have not missed a single dive or a series of dives in this entire period. Ha, I have an analog compass on my left wrist also though all I usually use is the north pointer on my Teric. Much of my diving is solo, I have no buddy backup for anything.
