Not to derail the thread, but I disagree. Air doesn't just vanish, if you had 100 bar 60 seconds ago there's no need to check it again. To make a sweeping generalisation of my own, a lot of people spend too much time looking at their SPG and not enough time looking at their buddy and the environment

yeah, but you claim to make deep dives on air with a single tank, so why should I listen to you? :)

Huh? I always dive a light on a Goodman handle, and it has nothing at all to do with my wrist compass. Goodman handles go across the back of the hand, well below the wrist

Yeah, no interference with the wrist at all... goodman.jpg

I am certain that anyone who would try very hard to contradict what TSandM said will be successful but what you are showing is not the norm in my experience or in TSandM experience. Most of the lights I have seen with Goodman handle are not as bulky as the one you show in your picture. Also, you should turn your wrist computer/watch so it is positioned on the inside of your wrist for better viewing anyways.

I didn't have to try hard at all, that's my own Halcyon 21w HID can light; it's pretty common equipment (in the world of divers who use can lights). All the HID lights that I've seen are similar, whether they be Halcyon, Salvo, Light Monkey or Dive Rite

As I said earlier, I wear my computer/bottom timer on my right wrist - much easier that way to move it into the edge of the light beam to read it when required

Good point (except I use doubles)

You know, that photo is accurate about lights that don't have remote ballast -- but I own one and have dived it, and somehow it didn't interfere with my use of a compass. I'll have to look at why that works, but I know that it does. All the rest of our lights have the ballast in the canister, and are far less bulky.

Stupid question: Does DIR say light on left hand?

(Never even seen a can light, but I am ecstatic that they have cloth Goodman handles now.)

So that you can donate with your right.

I think "wrist" is not really that accurate. Personally, I keep the compass (and my computer) halfway between my arms and elbows so i don't really run into this issue.
