So with Huish taking on Suunto Jan. 2016 will we ever see a wrist computer from Atomic? Seems like that would be redundant to have two leaders in the industry competing for the same market with like products. Oceanic/aeris all over again. Just my .02 cents. Hope I'm wrong really wanted a new Atomic wrist mount. Tried the Suunto Eon Steel last week, very nice but still hoping for an Atomic.

I wish I could say or show more, I really do. There is a wrist computer coming from Atomic, it's based on the Cobalt user interface and electronics, with some enhancements. I can't comment as to timing.

The Suunto arrangement with Huish is for regional distribution, and a Huish company, Bare, has been distributing Suunto in Canada for years. It really doesn't have anything to do with computers being developed internally. Oceanic and Aeris were always the same under the hood, and the distinction made between them was primarily for branding and marketing. Suunto is completely independent, so it's not a comparable situation.

My GF asked me about 20 minutes ago if I wanted to get another spare computer? She knows I love my Petrel. I told her I was still waiting for the Wrist Mounted Atomic. I told her my Petrel is in my opinion the best computer for "technical" diving and my Cobalt is the best for "recreational" diving. I hope the new Atomic computer links both worlds.

I am pleased to hear that Huish did not purchase Suunto. I was never really impressed with their computers and based upon their current offerings, have no plans to purchase one. Like others, I am holding out for the Atomic Wrist Computer.

Just curious why the Cobalt over the Petrel for recreational diving? I don't do tech diving and love my Petrel. A few friends with Cobalts got Petrels after seeing mine. The Petrel is also a great recreational dive computer. Is it just the air integration with the Cobalt, or something else?

Anything new to time frame? Winter, spring, 1 year or more?

Atomic really doesn’t like to show or announce products before they have a date certain for being able to deliver. About all I can say is that 1) we are testing, and there will be a lot of testing as we want this product to be extremely reliable; and 2) it’s going to be a very interesting and flexible addition to the lineup of wrist dive computers. Divers who like the existing Cobalt console’s user interface will find even more to like with this.
