I hear that the suunto sk-7 is a very good compass. sturdy, easy to read and functional to a 30 degree tilt.

Agreed on the SK7; I'm very happy with mine.

One bit of advice: if you dive with gloves, remove the compass strap and replace with two loops of bungee cord. Donning/doffing is much easier to manage, and it's more secure.

I use an SK-5 with two loops of shock cord for the strap. A nice little compass. I picked it up brand new and dirt cheap on eBay:D

I also have Suunto SK-7 compass in my (Combo) console.

I think that Suunto make best compass units in the world!
If you folks didn´t know, Suunto was founded in 1936, and started to make compasses to Finnish army.

When i was in the school we use Suunto Compasses in sports lessons. Later when i was serving in Finnish army there were same kind of marching compasses.

Now i´m proud owner of Suunto products in my "scuba-hobby";)

I, too, have the SK-7, and as mentioned above, it is fairly thick ( I assume thats to allow for the high degree of tilt). It is a very nice compass. Not sure about how the wrist mount feels, mines on a retractor.
