I bought a new Tern TX a few months ago and I want to use the compass. I calibrate it exactly how I calibrate my Perdix 2, turning it in my hands in different orientations. The Perdix 2 is working perfectly, I just don't like losing all the details on the screen. The Tern has a nice red arrow, but I noticed the arrow will only point in the 1 to 2 o'clock direction no matter how many times I calibrate it. It moves, so it gives you the impression that it's working, but then doesn't leave this area of the screen.

Has anyone else had any issues with their Shearwater compass?

Of note, I have reached out to Shearwater, twice. I assume they are backed up due to the holidays and haven't responded yet.

Shearwater finally responded and issued an RMA.
I dive both a Teric and an Apple Watch Ultra, and have found that the Teric’s compass is never remotely close to accurate, no matter how many times I calibrate it as described in the manual. I have to use the compass on the AWU only if I hope to navigate successfully.

I’m wondering now if I ought to reach out to Shearwater, though I think I’m far out of warranty at this point.

Does the compass on the sherwater work fine after all. I heard a problem is because it s mounted on your wrist it might be difficult to get a good direction. I assume it s should be bothering to keep removing it from your wrist to have better accuracy? Is it the case ?

I use an analog suunto sk8 my problem with this one sometime the plate stay stuck doesn't move, i tought digital compass will resolve this issue ? is it the case ? What do you prefer analog or digital compass ?

I don’t think that it being wrist mounted is a problem. My AWU is spot on all the time, without a need to calibrate it.

And my perdix 2 works fine.
