Whats the difference between a expensive compass like that one vs a cheap one?

I would agree that the Suunto SK7 is the compass to get. I use the DSS bungee mount as well but wear it on my left wrist.

I started with a more generic compass but the "card" did not allow much tilt and would stick.

With the SK7, it allows a 30 degree tilt and still moves accurately. So from top dead center, it can tilt a total of 60 degrees side to side.

You can also actually see in the window to get your heading.

Yep, just spend the money and get the SK7. This really is the best compass you can buy.

I use the SK7 w/ wrist bungee on my left wrist. I use a Suunto for land nav as well.
