Looking to get compasses for my fiancee and I, and have settled on the Sherwood/Genesis, versus Suunto. I've searched through the forum about this topic and don't want to beat a dead horse about which compass is better.

Rather, I have a specific question that might tip my decision one way or another: Several years ago, the threads had a lot of reports about the Suuntos developing microcracks, losing oil/developing air bubbles, and the card eventually seizing. Is this something that's been fixed in the last few years?
