I just got off the phone with ICY ICE and I've got some great news!
Ice has spoken with the owners of OEX in La Jolla and they are open to offering a group discount to us for air fills and rentals on the day of our now infamous Wrinkles Dive!
Ultimately, the discount will be based on how many air fills, rentals and sales they will be getting from the group that day.
So, in order to get a good idea of what kind of bargaining power we have as a group, we've decided to start a separate thread for this.
The price is currently set at $4 per air fill and will go down as we can promise more business to OEX. I'm not sure about the actual prices on rental gear, but discounts will be offered and posted here as we know what our needs are. Although they have not offered discounts on purchases yet, we will try to work on that as well.
They will also open OEX early for us at 7am for those of us that would like to get rentals and air fills at the beginning of the day.
Here is what we need to know from you ASAP.
How many air fills do you plan on for the day? Be sure to count on filling your tank before going home at the end of the day so that we can get an even better overall discount on everything.
What gear do you think you would like to rent for that day? Some of you who are travelling may just want to save the hassle of carting your own tanks down to the area. This would be just like what people do when they go out to Catalina Island.
What else would you be interested in getting from OEX in the way of products or services that day? With this much notice, I imagine that anything is possible and that they may be interested in offing discounts on your purchases that day as well. Those of you who are not coming to the dive that way, might still want to take advantage of this through a friend that is going to be there. As your responses come in, we'll let you know via PM what kind of deals we can swing for the gear you are interested in.
