Thank you! Look for the tiny whaler anchored between a and b.

Aye captain. Approach with caution as these be dangerous waters with many reefs. The reefs rise up vertically from 6 fathoms to .5 fathoms. Watch your charts and your depth gauge.

Ok. I'm jealous! Softball season this year is going to KILL me! Can't make this one. If you plan it next month on any other weekend than the weekend of the 17th, I promise I'll try to get there!!!!

wrinkles:
It will be my year anniversary and you are not even going to escort me through the surf. :frown2:

Sorry Ana, Have to leave you in Mel's capable hands, so to speak...Congrats on your year anniversary! Watching you dive I would not have pegged you as a newer diver

Looking forward to this weekend. Never been to this site, so lets talk logistics:

1) Drive up, say the secret word, dump gear and go park. Bring a bucket full of quarters. Got it.

2) Once I've parked, go back to gear. Now, is there a pathway to roll gear to the steps, then steps down the cliff to the beach, or is this a schlep? Meaning, should I bring a roller gear bag, a backpack, a hand truck or should I jack a shopping cart from Ralphs?

3) Should I leave tank #2 in the truck, or is the schlep prohibitive enough to warrant tossing it into the jacked shopping cart / hand truck?

4) OR, am I dreaming and this a you-gotta-hand-carry-everything-in-4-trips-for-a-quarter-mile-boy-are-you-sorry-you-signed-on-for-this-detail kind of outing?

Thanks -

Ken

Hi I would like to go diving with you all. I have been diving 2 times this week at Cress St. and Cleo street and had a really good time. Good vis, nice warm water (in my 7/5 mm wetsuit) plus some nice visibility for beach diving CA. So you just go left in the resort and say "beach access" and drive down to the underground parking with your cash in hand? It should be a very nice dive so count me in if it's ok :) I'll check back.

Thanks,

Sean

Logistics: Bring crisp $1.00 bills (recommend 3 of them for 3 hrs time) for parking.

There are schleps and there are schleps! I am 50 year old male and I just suit up in the parking garage and stroll over to the dive site. It is a schlep, but IMHO not bad. The path to the top of the steps is paved and flat and a nice stroll. You are probably doing a walk a little less than Malaga Cove. I think this is just a nice stroll, but then others may have a different opinion. The stairs down the cliff face which is about 90 feet tall (Normal Laguna Cliff) are of wood construction. (see attached photo of dive site).

When making the drop, no drop decision, please keep in mind the owners of this property are running a high end resort with rooms $400-$2,000 per night and not a dive site. So leaving a bunch of carts at the top of the stairs or on the beach may not be greeted with enthusiasm by the property owner. Before the hotel was built and they granted us access, the site was occupied by Treasure Island Trailer park and there was no beach access. We had to walk in from Aliso Beach, about ½ mile or more away to make this dvie. So with the current owners kind of enough to let us cross their land and use there parking garage I would encourage us to be as unobtrusive as possible. That said I would recommend we leave the equipment drop for the less able bodied among us and take the walk.

If you do drop the gear off at the curb, it will save you about half the walk, maybe more, maybe less depending upon which dive plan we do. The magic word to the security guard is “beach access”.
