My buddy "SpKelpDiver" and I decided to venture down to Shaw's Cove because Laguna Sea Sport's website was showing 30-35ft vis. We got down there pretty fast "under an hour" and before we knew it we were hitting the water. Water was crystal clear and swell was almost none existent. All I can say is that it was an incredible experience for both of us and def. ranks second on my all time favorite dives "coming in close with my experience on Catalina at the Rock Quarry". Here's our dive profile and a video I uploaded to Youtube.

Awesome? What, did they put in an elevator?

All kidding aside, Shaws cove is a great local beach dive. Thanks for posting.

Well when comparing it to my local spots "Marineland, Christmas Tree Cove, and Malaga"... the walk is very very easy! I'd take that set of stairs @ Shaw's any day over the .5 hike at Marineland or the treacherous slippery descent at Christmas Tree. :D

My favorite dive site behind the Orange Curtain. If you look along the base of the left wall in the Crevice you'll find dozens of Hopkin's Rose nudis. Mexichromis porterae and Gray moon sponges are also abundant in the arch area. Sometimes the surge is so strong at the Arch that you have to try several times to swim through.

That was one of the best dives we have had. The oceanscape was surreal, and the visibilty was so clear. That dive was a blast. We weren't in macro mode at all, just cruising and maping the place out. We saw atleast 2 groups of divers, as we were coming in and it seemed liked they had passed by the swim through which suprised me because conditions were so stellar. no current at all. I want to get back there as soon as possible, but it might be a while with the surf that is comming in.
