Would you buy gear that someone died using?

Unless they died because the gear was faulty, why not? Especially if the price is right. I'd have it checked out, though, like I would ANY used gear.

I am with the masses here....take the deal and enjoy it. If the coasties cleared it and you get it inspected/tested before use, then all the power to ya. I would love to come accross some equipment deals ( not necessarily death but deals none the less).

That's messed up, but funny as hell. Hadn't thought about that, but have some spares ready. I was planning on having all of the regs serviced, the tanks taken in for viz, the manifold rebuilt, and everything else eyeballed so it's wired tight. Who knows what the CG did to it to test it, I just know it took them over two years to return it, so everything has to be inspected.

I think the one other thing I'd do is reset the computers to factory default.

To me it's just gear. A means to get where I want to go. It has the added advantage of being the exact same setup my other half uses.

Thanks for the advice, I'm waiting to hear back from the seller - if it works out, it'll be like Christmas. I was scrimping for each piece trying to determine what to get first, this is the whole package in one shot, and like I said, everything I was looking at.

I already have. A friend of mine died several years ago diving in the Bahamas. I bought some of his gear from the estate. I bought it to help keep him in my mind.

You could always get it and then swap setups with them and hope they don't notice. That way neither of you will feel creepy karma.
