World's best places to dive?

The best diving I've had in my sort experience was in Okinawa. The sea life is cool, the reefs are as good or beter than Cozumel, and the dives are not Drift. My wife and I went on several dives (boat, and shore) and I've never had a more "Fish Tank" like experience than in those waters. The best part is being able to circle around something that interests you without having to fight a current.

There are so many areas to dive and such diversity underwater that the "best" would be impossible to find!

But I adore my local area - the Ningaloo Reef. With 260kms of reef plus the Gulf, I'll never see it all!

I just returned from diving Cozumel and I had a fabulous time with wonderful dives. Couldn't ask for more than we had in Cozumel.

But then I got home and did dives last Saturday and it blew my mind. And this was on sites that I dive regularly. It's good to be home

Red Sea without even thinking, and more specifically the deep South of the Red Sea.

I left one out of my previous post: the cenotes of the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico. There are lots of cenotes in the area south of Cancun. The cenotes are cave and cavern systems filled with fresh water. Many local dive operations conduct guided cavern tours, for which cave or cavern certification is not required. A cave instructor leads a very small group of divers (usually three) on a guided tour of cavern areas, which basically means the areas from which an entrance is visible. This is quite an experience. Although this area is on the coast where there is good diving, many people spend an entire trip diving only the cenotes. Happily, this area is just across the channel from Cozumel, so one trip can easily combine the reefs and walls of Cozumel with the cenotes on the mainland.

I have to agree with both of Don's posts: The best dive sites in the world are Darwin's Arch in the Galapagos Islands, and the Cenotes of the Yucatan.

Almost as hard to decide as if asked if all women were to be one hair color. Variety is the spice of life and diving.

Cozumel, drift. Bonaire, shore. Molokoni crater, deep. Bermuda, shark. and so on

Tubattaha Reef (north and south), Philippines. On the same live aboard trip you do Jessie Beezely and Basterra Reefs and all are fantastic, out in the middle of the Sulu Sea, no land to be seen, jump in and see the most clear water, fantastic walls, wide variety of marine life.....awesome.

I've been all over SE Asia, The Caribbean, and the Both Coasts in the US.

#1 By FAR is Komodo National Park in Indonesia.

I could spend 2 solid weeks at Cannibal Rock and still not see everything.

Kona coast, Big Island of Hawaii
Cayman Islands
Bonaire
Sodwana Bay, South Africa
???
All are wicked good!!! I prefer the places you can shore dive, so Kona, Cayman & Bonaire are tops with me. Sodwana is quite an adventure though and about as pristine as it gets - but boat diving only.
