Questions on Inon closeup lenses...

I just ordered a pair of the UCL165s for my G9 along with the 67M adapter. I probably should've asked this earlier, but now that I'm excited about it I'll ask anyway... How do these work? A couple of people posting here have fantastic results. I'm reading they allow you to focus "closer" on Yuzo's website, but how in the heck are people getting eyeball shots of mantis shrimp and other critters you either can't get that close to or don't want to get that close to? Do the lenses allow a closer focus when zoomed in, say instead of having to be 19 inches away when fully zoomed in you can now approach closer when fully zoomed in? I'll probably be able to figure it out myself when the kit arrives... but it's probabaly information others might be curious about too.
