Well, I feel very safe when I go in a trip alone because I stay in reputable resorts with reputable dive operators. I usually get teamed in the moment with people who are diving alone too. I usually meet nice people with whom you can dive perfectly well.

I went to the Bahama's by myself one Christmas. No one else would leave thier families, and I wasn't staying in the cold DC area. Unfortunately, all I ran into was couples. I think probably because of the holidays. I had a great time anyway, and never felt unsafe uncomforatable.

The next year I saw a dive trip advertised on the internet by a dive shop in FL. They were going to Cozumel. I had no idea what I was getting into, but the price was good. I met the group in Miami, and flew to Cozumel with them and met just a great bunch of people.

So far my diving trips have been on a solo basis.

I went twice to Egypt and twice to Thailand, never had a problem.

I'm leaving, alone, to the Maldives in three weeks.

My only concern is that it's a classic honeymoon location (couples everywhere) and I might end up being paired with a fellow Dive Master, but who cares?

On the other hand, I booked a cruise in the Red Sea for April through my local dive club and this will be the first time I go diving with a pre-built group of people I know beforehand.

Well, same for me !

I'm a 20-year-old French girl. I used to live in Indonesia (the biggest muslim country in this planet, remember ?), and of course I *L O V E* Asia, so everytime I have enough money to get there, I jump in a plane !!

I'm used to being there alone, once I even stayed for 4 months travelling around Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia, without any big problem, BUT once.

It was in Kuala Lumpur, A man stopped me in a street and asked me how much I was asking for a b***job...

I just walked through him, then he said, "All right, I'll give you 300 US dollars". I just slapped him and I ran.

What I don't understant is that I was wearing loose, long-sleeves and a pair of long jeans... just what they say you have to wear in the Lonely Planet ... But I think, to some Malaysian men, white girls are just whores...

Anyway, in the Diving community, I've never sensed any danger or disrespect... Big Family, huh ? :out:

Just really funny, cause this guy didn't have a clue on how to recognize a prostitute !! I had a huge backpack at that very moment , and walking shoes... can you imagine a prostitute in that outfit ?)

Amanda... just give O-ring a call. He'll be your escort.

Wait.... that might be worse than a Malaysian man ;)
Don't drag me into this and sell me off like a gigolo!

BTW, Amanda, PM me for the number :)
