Well, my shuffle kick is in transition, because Fred wanted me to produce more of the propulsion with plantarflexion of the foot, rather than dorsiflexion, so it's all discombobulated at the moment. But generally, it doesn't produce the same instability.

I don't use the mod frog much, but I don't remember noticing the same wobble. I have this gut level feeling that it's related to the amount of force I'm using with the frog kick, and somehow it's not being applied exactly as it ought.

I would not worry to much.....you are doing fine.....each of us has a little differing twist to each kick.....I would focus more on the dive and less on your appearance to others.

I don't see it as appearance to others, but rather precision.

Thats right...'precision', and we all must be perfect ...what ever that is-?....this is a frog kick not laser eye surgery.

I'm not worried about how I look to anybody else; I just don't LIKE this wobbly feeling at the end of the kick, and in high silt conditions, the little fin movements I have to make to correct it may end up causing some silting. I don't know. I just don't like it, and I want to fix it because it will make ME more comfortable.

I do allot of frog kicking myself....yours in the video had a slight wobble--not a big deal really....in situation of silting I think even with this slight 'signature' it should not cause mass silting, silting is something we all do regardless of how hard we might work to prevent it.....I understand you wanting to get it perfect--keep working at correcting the wobble and then maybe you will feel better about it within yourself. :)

Plantarflexion should be more of a passive phase during the shuffle kick, and not the source of thrust.

i had that same feeling when i was trying to kick to hard and now i use more ankile that seemed to fix it for me.
But i have a feeling like anything it will take some time playing around with it to find out what works for you and what is making you feel like that :)

It looks like you are using the fins to provide axial stability. As you finish the power stroke, the fins can't provide the same stability as when they are extended. Just a guess, but it looks like you are slightly imbalanced as a result of air distribution in the wing.

That's what I thought, but Fred told me otherwise. He wants the water directed upward.

That's an interesting idea . . . I noticed that, in the pictures from our photo shoot with Danny, in the first half dozen or so, I'm tilted right side down. It goes away later. Maybe I just need to pay more attention to getting perfectly balanced from side to side . . . but the interesting thing is that, once I make the little fin correction, I'm then completely stable for the whole glide portion of the kick.

I got an interesting insight on this yesterday, when I was at the gym, swimming laps. I've been working with the Total Immersion ideas, and I discovered that I have much more difficulty rotating my body to the left than to the right. I suspect I've got some major muscle asymmetry or neurologic patterning that is causing this, and it may be related to this wobble as well.
