Hey all , Thinking of buying a new computer with wireless transmitter . Any brand recommendations ? I own a Suunto computer and a Oceanic computer , both have been no problems and when both worn on the same dive they mirror each others #'s .I like on the Oceanic the safety stop time counts down in seconds not just minutes like the Suunto . Any users of either brand or another brand have any ideas what brand or model is "best" .

We have used numerous Oceanic wrist mounted AI computers in my family for the past few years and have never had any problems. Best is subjective and you will get fans of various brands telling you theirs are best. I don't like Suunto but the next person will tell you they wouldn't have anything else.

Best bet is to look at specs and prices, pick out one or two models in your price range from each of 2-3 manufacturers and try them out or at least play with them. Figure out what is important to you before you.

If you are intent on finding the one "best" computer, get ready to spend a lot of time reading other people's opinons.

Oh, and for the most part this has been argued over dozens of times here so you could also do a search and see what people said the last time this was discussed.

Good luck.

Do you want the watch type like an OC1 from Oceanic or an Epic from Aeris or a D9 from Suunto or do you want something with a larger face and big numbers for old eyes like an Aeris Elite T3 or Oceanic VT3? All good computers that cost different amounts and have a couple of different features like a digital compass that just doesn't mean that much to me. You have to decide how much you want to spend?

I use a VT3 and love it. I have it in a DSS bungee mount which is also excellent.

That's what I would consider the VT3. Its not a watch size at all.

Yep. More like a puck. Anyway, the other option is the Aeris Elite T3 which is the same as the VT3 but might be cheaper. When I looked at purchasing one, for some reasons, the MSRP on the Aeris was $50 less even though they're exactly the same computers.

If you want an Aeris T3, let me know. I bought an Oceanic OC1 late last year and am about to put my T3 up for sale.

I've had an Atom 1.0, and now have an Oceanic VT3. Just as a follow up on the 'watch style' vs. larger, easier-to-read 'puck style,' I figured out that for what a dive computer costs, and the hassles of battery replacement (even user-serviceable models, given that there are o-rings involved), I'm not going to wear a dive computer around 24/7 and risk banging it on things, scratching up the display, etc...

I just wear a regular old $20 or so wrist watch from Wal-mart (I think) rated for 30 m depth in addition to my Oceanic VT3 when I go diving.

Richard.

For me a VR3 or Liquivision X1 is the best computer to use. I don't particularly like wireless computers, but good luck with your choice!
