I'm going to replace my jacket bcd with a wing, and really want one that can be adapted to both single or doubles as I don't want to travel with both.

I like the Halycon Evolve, but if I go for that I'll need to buy the eclipse wing also in order to dive a single. That's going to be not only expensive but more cumbersome in travel luggage.

Does anyone know of any out there with the lightweight backplate that will adapt to both singles and doubles. I saw an OMS wing with that but then bungied and I'm not really into bondage ;) I intend to go toward cave diving so sturdy single bladder and uncluttered is the way for me.

Advice welcome :) Thanks.

Actually that's rubbish.

Not the wings of course, though I prefer hot sauce than bbq.

Of course you can attach a singe adapter to an evolve.. maybe I should think before I post, problem solved.

Most people will tell you that using a doubles wing on a single tank is a bad idea. The wing will envelope the tank like a big taco shell, the air pocket will be unstable and difficult to manage, and reaching the dump valve will be difficult because it'll be very high up the side of the tank.

By far the best solution is to have a singles wing for diving singles and a doubles wing for diving doubles. It's completely reasonable to want to find a one-size-fits-all wing, and the topic comes up every other week or so; unfortunately there aren't any good solutions.

Thanks, had a look through some old threads for info. So a better bet would then be something like a frog Indigo and a diverite 360 along with the straps and backplate it still comes out about the same cost as a halycon set up anyway.

That's a couple that seem a good price and look like good pieces of equipment. I see the problem with trying to have it all in one wing, so will pass on that.

Any thoughts?

I don't have any experience with those particular wings, but if cost is an issue, Halcyon does tend to have higher prices than most other bp/wing makers, so looking into other brands is a good move. Another big money saver is to buy used; pre-harnessed plates can be found for $50-100, and wings for around $200 are pretty common.

I'm just trying to not go nuts, it's an expensive jump even scavenging what I can from my rec gear.

On top of the above, 2 new 1st stages as my current is yoke fitting, new spg, 7" hose, tec course and as much diving as I can do isn't going to be cheap! At the same time I'm not going to skimp on equipment I expect to last for years.

Off to ebay I think :)

I have become a huge fan of used gear...........

Avoid the new gear look and look like an old salt right away......:)

plus the cost is right..........

If you can't afford 2 wings you can't afford tech diving. Get a single wing first, get that dialed in then add doubles with a different wing. Dual purpose wings don't do either well and you are wasting your money trying that concept out (again, been there done that)
