Just curious, I know most of the arguments against bungee wings but how many people have actually had the problems they are suppose to present. Is it a "yes" this does happen often or is it a "well it could happen so why take the chance". If that is the case there are plenty of things that "could" happen. Just curious.

I hooked a bungie on a bent nail inside a wreck in 150' of water. A lot can go through one's mind in five seconds or so.

Bungies => GIMMICK

You can go to www.aquanaut.com and check the archives. There was a death of a mix student who had the wings. Bungies were WAY to tight (came from factory like that) and appeared she could not inflate at depth. That came from a surviving member of the trio.

Even if they don't kill you, they can trap air and throw your trim to hell as well as being the antithesis of streamlining.

If you overinflate your BWODs and poke a hole in the bottom of them, then you don't have to buy a scooter!

Only one out of the five negative responces indicated that they had used these wings at all. One made a vague reference to an apocryphal posting somewhere on some other board, and the others just plain don't like them. So, if 1/5 or 20% of all the stuff said about the bungeed wings is true, and that did not result in death or injury, well then, I still think I love them. The comment about the wing putting off trim MORE than the Flacid Wings of Flailing, has probably not really given them a fair shake. Their trim is rock solid and they do not have the propensity to spin the diver over... like I saw happen on my last trip to Alexander springs. This guy must have rolled over a dozen times too. I was cracking up! He did come over and look at my bungeed wings and told me they would kill me. I said, I understood that they didn't give the wearer a good sense of which way was up like his wings did. He just walked away after that. Everyone in my group just started laughing... loudly too.

Another vote for the BWDC. Never had a problem and 95% of my diving is wrecks doing penetration.
I have gotten hooked up but never on a bungee...

It doesn't matter to me either way - I don't use wings at all. If I were in the market for wings, I'd pass on bungies for two reasons.

1. They serve no purpose. A BC functions quite well without bungies.

2. I like to keep things as simple as possible. I'll add a complication if I can see a clear advantage.
