I've noticed that some wings have the exhaust hoses exiting the top, center, of the wing and others that exit on the left side. It seems like those exiting near the left shoulder would encourage the hose to lay better down the chest.

What are the pros and cons of the different designs?

Thanks,
Ben

Actually most singles wings have the hose coming off the left shoulder because general thinking centered it might interfere with the 1st stage. Doubles, the 1st stages are left and right of center.

Some dual bladder wings have ti go left and right of center because there are 2 inflator hoses/elbos/corrugated hoses.

Several of the popular designs have the center design. I prefer the hose to the left (per Oxy), it makes for a shorter routing and less interference with the regulator (single) and as well IMO it is easier to dump.

The 1st wing I ever used had the elbow centered. I admit, I was not dialed in enough to know if it was less practical than the wings I have since used. All off the left. It would certainly seem that left shoulder would route more easily.

Thanks for the replies.

It seems like having the hose in the center would negate having to roll to the right to get all the air out of the wing. Also, on the wedge shape wings the center would be the highest point.
I agree that hose routing appears better when on the left.

Thanks again
Ben

Venting differences are hardly noticeable, the less optimal rouitng and interference with the regulator are more noticeable. Each to their own. Both work, one works out better.
