I've been planning to get out to the dive park this Sunday 11/24... but I see the weather forecast calls for rain thursday, friday and maybe on saturday. Is this going to ruin the awesome visibility that people have been talking about lately? Generally, how much rain does it take to screw up the viz? Will it still be worth the trip?

Usually it has a pretty short and limited effect...much much less than mainland. The rain isn't going to be a big storm , reportedly, either so effect ought to be small. Call an Avalon shop on Friday and see if there are reports.

The rain so far has been mild. Early rains often get soaked up and don't cause much runoff. I've seen excellent vis following even heavy downpours and vis has generally been great the past few weeks. I'd check in Saturday to see if it has dropped.

Thanks! That'll help me get through the rest of the work week. I'll call one of the shops on sat.

I would love a dive report from Catalina for my website if anybody has one?

I didn't dive this weekend (a budding cold and too much topside work to do) but I heard the vis was 30-50 ft with strong current early afternoon

Bill, if you dive today or tomorrow lemme know how conditions are :)
