Sounds like a hell of a trip, did my OW and AOW on Oahu. For that time of year I would plan on water temps being in the low 70 range, not bad unless you get cold easily. My suggestion for Dive Ops is for Island Divers and they Dive out of Hawai'i Kai. They usually do two deeper dives, typically wrecks, in the morning and two shallower reef dives in the afternoon, I would also double check on the availability of night dives. Like I said I did my certification through them but I also went on a dive trip to Honduras with them as well. Great group to work with. Hope you have a good trip.

I am just finishing up a three week work/vacation here. Myself and co-workers booked a boat with Reef Pirates. Boat capacity of 14 but they limit it to six divers. Site choices were up to us. Fantastic boat and well informed crew. I will choose them again for next work trip.

I have 31 dives off Oahu during 3 brief "business" trips, all with Alex Mason, AAA in 2006 and 2008 and Alex's Aquatic Adventures in 2009. All 3 trips are reviewed on Undercurrent. He did a great job ensuring I had good dives and enjoyed myself. The Sea Tiger and YO-257/San Pedro are fun wrecks and the Corsair is certainly worth doing at least once. The reef dives are interesting for a mosly Caribbean diver like me with all the unique and/or endemic fish. I believe Alex will pick you up at your hotel, there's a lot of information on his website and he is responsive by email or phone.
The water is cooler than you might think, consistently lower 70s this time of year. I dived with a 3mm and hooded vest. If I were going today, I would take my 5mm and the hooded vest, especially if doing 4 dives per day. I'm sure many of the operators on Oahu and in Honolulu are very good, if I were to return today, I'd dive with Alex. If you communicate with him, relay my regards.

I got back into diving with Dive Oahu and did AOW through MSD with them. Great dives out of Kewalo Boat Harbor.
I'm currently doing most of my diving (as a Divemaster Candidate) through Island Divers Hawaii. Different locations. I recommend both shops.
Also, Gabe (scottietheduck) of Kaimana Divers, as previously mentioned.

My two cents about Hawaii (Oahu) is tourists should stick to boat dives in this season, with the North Shore in surf mode. The shore dives can be tricky for logistics and degree of difficulty in any season, and with Shark's Cove/Three Tables out ...
Also, use the hotel pickup unless you are already familiar with the roads in Hawaii. We don't know the numbers of the streets on the maps tourists use (61, 63, 99) because they don't match the names we use with them (Likelike, Pali, Kamehameha/Kam Highway). And there is that mess of traffic at the H-1/Moanalua merge depending on the place you are diving.
Use the recommended operators and use their pickup service and relax and have fun. Trying to drive and get places in Hawaii where consonants are rare can be very tricky for first timers.

Look into Kayena Point"if I spelled ir correct" you can access the shore there and get into 50+ of water almost immediatly. Its been a while since I was there so I would reccomend a little research. You can take some pictures of the big Valley that the pilots who attacked Pearl Harbor flew thru to hide from our radar.( Sorry I cant remember the name)
